The Lynda Shaw Homicide

On April 15th 1990, Twenty- one year old Lynda Shaw left her family home in Brampton to return to her studies at the University of Western Ontario.  Along the way the young engineering student vanished and 6 days later her murdered body was located not far from the 401 Highway.  An intense police investigation followed the discovery but it would take another 15 years to finally find her killer. 


The Scott Dell – Nancy Fillmore Homicides

On December 29, 1995 in the early morning hours the lifeless body of Killaloe farmer Scott Dell was discovered in his home. Originally suspect of being a suicide it was determined that Mr. Dell had been poisoned after ingesting a quantity of antifreeze. The murder investigation that followed lead to the arrest of Scott Dell’s estranged wife Cherrylle for First Degree Murder.  What followed were the bizarre turns that lead to a second First Degree Murder charge being laid against Cherrylle Dell and a 19 year old man as her accomplice in the fire death of Cherrylle’s ex–lover and potential Crown witness Nancy Fillmore.

On April 17th 2001 the body of a woman clad only in a nightgown was discovered at the side of a concession road in Flamborough, Ontario.  What followed was an interesting and dynamic investigation to, first of all, identify the remains of this woman and secondly solve the mystery of her death.  Using a wide variety of forensic techniques and investigative strategies, the Hamilton Police Service’s Major Crime Unit came up with an interesting and surprising result.

On October 20, 2003 the parents of nine-year-old Cecilia Zhang made the horrifying discovery that their young daughter had been kidnapped from her Don Mills home sometime in the night.  What followed was a long and complex search and investigation by the Toronto Police Service.  On March 27, 2004 the remains of a young girl were discovered in a wooded ravine in Mississauga.  Identified as Cecilia Zhang the remains would lead the Peel Regional Police and the Toronto Police into a multi-jurisdictional investigation that would lead to the arrest of 21-year-old Min Chen on a charge of First Degree Murder.
